In order to pave new paths in the field of creative work, it is essential that we look to places far away from old patterns of thinking. Only then can we change the established rules, the rules that led us to where we are now. Mongolia provided the ideal research ground from which to explore relevant issues in contemporary art.
A country as far away as you can get from civilization.
This trip took the curators to the world’s least densely populated country: Mongolia. During their travels through no man’s land, they considered questions of ephemerality, eternity, and the effect of an absent audience, themes that naturally arose in the desolate region.
The research trip took place in December 2011 to January 2012.
